Three Strikes – You’re Out!

In the cold that is…
Yesterday the bus company announced the usual bus strike from 1030-230 for today. As per usual I took the car downtown, parked, handed the keys to hubby (who would then drive home, saving us some parking money) and went on my merry way to work.
I work along and even though my phone dies, I don’t worry. Then a student comes in at 6 saying the buses are still on strike-they didn’t approve the agreement and decided to prolong the strike until an agreement is reached. In this country that means possibly indefinitely.
So I decide to take a taxi home. I call hubby, who just got home after battling with traffic for nearly an hour and a half, and tell him I will take a taxi.
Then another student comes in looking grim. The taxi drivers have also decided to go on an unannounced strike to protest against the liberalization of taxi licenses and have blocked everything. No buses. No taxi. I live a 30 minute drive from downtown and it’s cold and windy. Desperate call to hubby. The angel climbs back into the car. In order to avoid the chaos that is downtown, I decide to walk up to the stadium and wait for him there. We agree upon the meeting point and I head off.
20 minutes later I hear him call my name. I gratefully slide into the passenger seat of my nice toasty car.
One hour after I finish work I am finally home. Halleluja!
