Happy New Year! I hope everyone in the world has had a chance to ring it in! Here in Genova hubby and I rang it in with some friends at dinner with a fantastic view of the city and the fireworks, all with generous amounts of bubbly. A lovely evening!
And today’s lunch followed Italian tradition: cotechino with lentils (and some cabbage for vitamins and stuff). Cotechino is like a giant sausage thing. Mighty tasty and mighty fattening but also mighty easy to make! Pop the bag in boiling water and wait for 20 minutes. Then chow down!
And the lentils? Well tradition says that if you eat lentils at New Years then you’ll see a lot of money come your way in.
Maybe now is the time to play the lottery.
Bring on the lentils!

Sounds yummy. I love lentils. We completely missed lunch as we went back to bed and slept through lunch after the party we were at ended at 3am! Haven’t stayed up that late on New Years Eve in years! I’m amazed that I didn’t fall asleep on the couch.

Ha ha! We were tempted to do that but the cats were a little too bossy. Wouldn’t let us sleep in too much!
